Mick Jagger did an Interview with Rolling Stone Magazine in 1995 .. This little tidbit below is an excerpt from that interview. Mick talks about being on a little vacation in Positano with Keith. They wrote "Midnight Rambler" in that little town on the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy in the Summer of 1968.
Question : Who wrote “Midnight Rambler”?
Mick Jagger :
"That’s a song Keith and I really wrote together. We were on a holiday in Italy. In this very beautiful hill town, Positano, for a few nights. Why we should write such a dark song in this beautiful, sunny place, I really don’t know. We wrote everything there – the tempo changes, everything. And I’m playing the harmonica in these little cafes, and there’s Keith with the guitar."
Like many wonderful things that people Love in Europe that Eouropeans in Italy, Spain, Francce and all the countries in Europe, there are things that are not present in the United States of America, like certain types of music, food, fashion, habits whatever.
As with the Negroni Coaktail, Campari, and Aperol Spritz in Italy, Mortadella, and Burata, I started drinking NEGRONI 'S a good 25 years ahead of most present day Americans, who have just recently discovered this great Italian Cocktail in the past few years, I first started drinking Campari and the Negroni Cocktail way back in the Summer of 1985 when I made my first trip to Europe, traveling in Italy, The SOuth of France, and Spain. That is a Summer I will never forget, when I went to the Birthday Parties of FELINI and BOY GEORGE in the same week when I was to take off for Rome, Italy on Saturday June 15, 1985 ..They actually had two parties for Boy George, one at the Palladium on 14th Street and another later in the evening at AREA down on Hudson Street in Tribeca. That same week, I attened Frederico Felini 's 60th Birthday Party at AREA with my buddy Bobby Matinez. We were hanging out with Felini and the legendary Italian Director told Bobby he wanted to put him in his next movie. It never happened, but it was quite cool to be hanging out with Felini (how many people can say that).
Anyway, I was having such a great time that week, althoough I was dying to go to Italy, I almost didn't want to go. Also that same week, Madonna did a few shows at Madison Square Garden a few weeks before she was to marry Sean Penn . At the opening night of Madonna 's Concerts at The Garden I was hanging out with her and my buddy Bobby in the Private Party for Madonna in the Michael Todd Room at the Palladium. Later that evening when we were leaving the Palladium, a number of Papparazzi starting taking pictures of Bobby and Madonna togehter. Bobby ran afer a photogpraher and started beating him up.
Anyway it was quite a week, hanging out with: FELLINI , MADONNA and Bobby and going to Boy George;s Birthday Party. Yes I almost didn't want to go to Italy, I was having so much Fun at home in New York 's East Village, it was quite a week, and one I have never forgotten.

The celebration continues on Elvis’ birthday January 8. At 9:00 a.m. the annual Elvis Birthday Proclamation Ceremony will take place in the Graceland Soundstage in Elvis Presley’s Memphis. The special ceremony will feature Graceland/EPE officials, a birthday cake cutting and proclamation of Elvis Presley Day by Memphis and Shelby County officials. The evening of the 8th, fans will enjoy a popular Elvis Week event making its Elvis Birthday Celebration debut. Musician Dean Z will present an evening of Elvis music live at the Graceland Soundstage featuring an acoustic experience ranging from Elvis’ biggest hits to some of his beloved fan favorite songs. Dean will be backed by members of his band and back-up singers.
On January 9, a special “Conversations on Elvis” hosted by Tom Brown, will include favorite memories and stories from friends, bandmates, and colleagues. Due to COVID-19, the event will feature one in-person special guest to be announced soon, plus special newly recorded Zoom interviews, an Inside the Archives segment with Graceland’s VP of Archives and Exhibits Angie Marchese.
The festivities will conclude that night with the Elvis Birthday Bash at Elvis Presley’s Memphis and a private evening tour of Graceland Mansion decorated for the holidays. The special evening tour of Graceland Mansion will include live tour guides inside Graceland Mansion and Elvis Christmas music playing throughout the rest of the mansion grounds.
